To be the largest Investment EdTech Co. in Malaysia

SUMMARY VIDEO

COMPANY DETAILS

Summary

The company is engaged in the provision of investment training services and equity investment research platforms. We aim to be the largest Investment EdTech Company in Malaysia. Join me to change the investment society!

Investment Education is Value Investment

We now present you the opportunity to join the expansion of NTF Group into Malaysia’s one-stop investment education platform.

NTF Group was established during the Movement Control Order (MCO) when the pandemic disrupted people’s incomes. NTF Group focuses on supporting the apprehensive retail investors in making informed investment analysis and decisions.

The positive responses from students and encouraging results achieved in the past 1 year give NTF Group the confidence to dream bigger - transform how teaching and learning have been happening for decades. NTF Group will gradually offer comprehensive online investment training services to Malaysian investors by combining top-notch educators, engaging content and superior technology.

The Malaysia-based startup generates revenue from selling investment training services to interactive live sessions, and pre-recorded learning materials to equip students to prepare for their investment.

With a startup capital of RM2000, NTF Group has trained more than 1000 paid customers since January 2020 and generated over RM500k in revenue.

Problem

Along with the rise in retail participation, the need for investment education is stronger than ever. During the lockdown, many retail investors found time to understand and learn about equities. This has given rise to an increasing number of self-proclaimed investment gurus, as well as online platform scams.

The blind leading the blind is used to describe a situation where a person who knows nothing is getting training and help from another person who knows almost nothing. Many Retail Investors are commonly misled or misinformed by certain parties who claimed to be professionals.

Many so-called investment gurus in the investment training services industry are not professional-trained gurus. This will definitely cause poor quality investment education. Getting a poor-quality knowledge is extremely dangerous!

On the other hand, many investment Software/Apps/websites in the market do not provides one-stop investment education services. Time is precious! Retail investors wasted plenty of time searching for different Investment Software/Apps/Websites for Stock Screeners, Education Trainings, and also Trading Account Services. And those Investment Software/Apps/Websites could be scams.

Solution

Nick Foo, the Group’s Founder, used to be work for two local prominent Investment Bank Equities Research as Equity Analyst, Technical Analyst and also Chief Course Instructor. Currently, he is a Singapore Exchange Academy Trainer.

He will put his professional knowledge into the future Apps. The Apps will help retail investors learn the proper and professional investment skills and knowledge.

The Apps will enable live interactive learning between a teacher and one’s students. Teachers through the Apps use two-way audio, video and whiteboard tools, allowing students to see, hear and interact with the teacher in real-time.

The Apps will also help students find the best teachers, analyse stocks’ financial statements & price movement, and also get the best brokers.

Ample time could be saved as there is no need to rush from place to place and fewer reasons for students to put efforts to study stocks.

By going online entirely, NTF Group can achieve significant economies of scale and higher profit margins. They then channel their profits into developing their better-quality in-house digital solutions, which add massive value to students and conventional investment training centers.

Services

Currently, NTF Group is selling Online Stock Investment Pre-Recorded Course for Beginner and Advance classes at RM 588 – 1200 per course.

Besides, NTF Group also sells one-to-one coaching training service.

Future

NTF Group wants to develop a One-stop Investment Services Apps. The Apps will offer:

  1. In-house Stock Market Education Videos;
  2. External Education Training Services (Investment Teachers will be interviewed and assessed before they can become our Teachers. Only Professional Investment Teachers will be recruited.);
  3. Stock Screeners (including Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis) based on Investment Bank Equity Research method; and
  4. Trading Account services by several licensed brokers.

  • Monthly average sales of the pre-recorded course were about RM 20,000. Bear in the mind that only 1 person generated such revenue.

Collaboration with Key Industry Players and the Stock Exchange

Besides, working with renowned brands will increase NTF Group’s visibility and credibility in the public’s eyes, making the public even more likely to recommend NTF Group.

Customers

NTF Group’s customers are Chinese Retail investors.

Business Model

NTF Group generates revenue from selling courses to interactive live sessions, pre-recorded learning materials and one-to-one coaching to equip students to prepare for their investment.

Future

NTF Group will generate revenue from selling Apps subscription.

NTF Group wants to develop a One-stop Investment Services Apps. The Apps will offer (1) In-house Stock Market Education Videos; (2) External Education Training Services (Investment Teachers will be interviewed and assessed before they can become our Teachers. Only Professional Investment Teachers will be recruited.); (3) Stock Screeners (including Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis) based on Investment Bank Equity Research method; and (4) Trading Account services by several licensed brokers.

The Apps includes English, Malay and Chinese version.

Asset-Light Business Model Leaves Investors with Little to Lose

Like other education technology startups, NTF Group’s business owns relatively few capital assets, thus giving us greater flexibility, lower profit volatility, more savings, and better returns on investments. Without needing to worry about disposing of irrelevant assets, NTF Group has more freedom to adjust their business model to adapt to market demand and user feedback.

Market
Meaningful Market Size

NTF Group’s business is backed by a steadily increasing demand from retail students as they require firm support in their education.

Based on the Bursa Malaysia statistics as of 31st December 2021, the number of new central depository system (CDS) accounts opened in 2020 jumped by 125% to 423,264 from 159,333 a year earlier. Although new CDS accounts opened in 2021 dropped by 18.6% to 344,542, the number was much greater than the year 2017 (141,993), 2018 (146,590) and 2019 (159,333).

Currently, there are a total of 3 million central depository system (CDS) accounts in the system in Malaysia. Some 60% of these accounts are active (translating to a total of 1.8m accounts).

For Apps subscription,

If we assume one retail investor subscribing for one month each, capturing a mere 0.5% market share would translate into monthly revenue of:

9,000 students x RM 129 / month = RM1.2 million / month

For Course only,

If we assume one retail investor registering one course each, capturing a mere 0.5% market share would translate into yearly revenue of:

9,000 students x RM 588 / year = RM5.3 million / year

Competition

There are hundreds of trading platforms and investing education apps available in local market, however, none of them offer one-stop investment services.

This makes NTF Group the only One-stop Investment Education Services provider.

NTF Group wants to develop a One-stop Investment Services Apps. The Apps will offer:

  1. In-house Stock Market Education Videos;
  2. External Education Training Services (Investment Teachers will be interviewed and assessed before they can become our Teachers. Only Professional Investment Teachers will be recruited.);
  3. Stock Screeners (including Fundamental Analysis and Technical Analysis) based on Investment Bank Equity Research method; and
  4. Trading Account services by several licensed brokers.

More competition is expected in the future, but the pie is big enough. NTF Group, being the first mover, is poised to grab the lion’s share due to NTF Group’s unfair advantages and unparalleled business development, branding, and digital marketing capabilities.

Funding

We are raising a maximum of RM1.5m for 7.5% equity at a pre-money valuation of RM18.5m - The funds will be utilised as follows:
