Bringing science to life

Science Bridge Academy (SBA) is a Malaysian science educational enrichment services provider focusing on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) space. SBA was founded by Cambridge University alumni, with the objective to inspire and drive awareness of science to primary and secondary students.

Our aim is to link science-based theories to real life context and applications so that students see the relevance of what they are learning, in their daily lives. Our programmes incorporate thematic based learning with stories and role-play, which helps students with knowledge retention.

Our programmes cater for students from 5 years to 18 years of age (preschool to A-levels). We focus on enrichment programmes where we expose younger students to different scientific applications, as well as supplementing our students' classroom learning.

We cover all the core sciences of physics, chemistry and life sciences. All programmes are taught at our fully equipped laboratory housed in The School, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya. In addition to our centre-based programmes, we also run school outreach programmes, events, and exhibitions.

Since January 2015 we have delivered workshops and extra-curricular programmes to thousands of students in Malaysia. We have also run training workshops for public and private school teachers, which garnered very positive response.

In December 2015 we were awarded a grant by Cradle Fund to develop a range of science teaching kits for schools. We have now produced our first range of kits that will be sent for testing and feedback in a number of selected schools both within and outside the Klang Valley. These kits have been developed in line with the Malaysian school syllabus and are priced in line with the public school budgets.

In our first operational year we recorded sales of RM600,000 with EBITDA of c.10%. We are now seeking an investment of RM250,000 from this equity crowdfunding campaign. This will take us through 2018 where in the short term we aim to grow our student numbers, roll-out our science kits in Malaysia and put in all the requisite protocols for the eventual licensing or franchising of our centres.

By 2020 we aim to have 5 SBA-owned centres and a range of 20 kits, reaching targeted annual sales of >RM30 million.

Equity Crowdfunding is risky. You are investing in early stage companies which may not do well and could even fail. You could lose part or all of your investment. You may not be able to sell your shares easily.

Investments are speculative and carry high risks. To decrease exposure, these types of investments should only be made as part of a diversified portfolio. Spread your risks and only invest money that you can afford to lose. pitchIN wants all investors to understand these risks and make careful investment decisions.
