Since then it has grown to be Malaysia's largest event venues & services marketplace with over 2,000 merchants listed across Malaysia. VMO covers event spaces for a wide range of 'life events' including birthday parties, graduations, wedding receptions, baby showers, corporate events, product launches, office meetings, and more. Having generated over RM180 million worth of inquiries, the platform also lists supporting event services to liven any occasion.

In 2019, VMO acquired Boozeat, Malaysia's leading online platform for alcoholic beverage sales (with over 2,000 SKUs) and taken an equity in FoodAdvisor.my, Malaysia's leading food discovery site with over 7,000 F&B merchants onboard.
The combination of the 3 online platforms form a synergy of creating a consumer F&B marketplace, helping people discover food to eat either for takeway or dine in, deliver drinks to them, and also the venues & services (which includes catering and drinks) for them to hold their events. The platforms cover all the foodie and drinkers touchpoints.
The inclusion of BundleUp, which assists merchants with procurement, connects the dot between suppliers to F&B merchants.
VMO makes it easy to find a suitable venue or service for an event whether it's based on location, budget, capacity of space, suitability of venue, and availability. VMO takes the pain out of finding a venue and combining services to an event. What used to take days to do, is found in a matter of minutes.
INTEGRATION OF BOOZEAT & FOODADVISOR
Boozeat is a natural fit as many events require alcohol as well. With the integration of Boozeat into VMO, it makes it easier to up-sell alcohol options for people who are planning events. Likewise, Boozeat's clients sometimes require venues for their events, making cross selling seamless.
FoodAdvisor, serves as an origin of food discovery among Malaysians. The inquiries subsequently leads to bookings. With the integration of FoodAdvisor the search leads to booking at restaurants from 2 pax up to 50 pax. Cross selling of alcohol (to non Muslim patrons) adds to the seamlessness of the customer experience.
BUSINESS MODEL & TRACTION
VMO monetises through a fee taken for every transaction that takes place through the platform. We take fees from the booking of every venue and service made on the platform. The fees range from 10% to 15%. Alcohol sales has a fee range between 10% - 20%.
VMO was not the first to enter the market in 2014. There were already 2 other booking platforms in the market. We outpaced them by offering users a hassle free process which allowed them to view listings without registration, and they were also able to view menu options and available time slots online. We have maintained our lead by building deep relationships with the F&B operators via offering them better insights into what their customers want. Today, we have venues that are exclusive to us.
Further differentiation is the reach of our 3 platforms that meets almost every touchpoint of a consumer's food & drink lifecycle. None of the competition provides a comprehensive offering like this.
BundleUp assist F&B merchants in the purchase of goods, creating a new stream of B2B income for VMO. All these adds to deepen our relationships with the merchants on our platform.
VMO has evolved beyond a venue booking platform, growing into a F&B Matching Platform that covers the B2C and B2B sides of the business.
Our investors include Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd. They came in as part on our our first ECF campaign in 2017. Cradle has a total investment of RM500,000 in VMO.

Vincent Kok is a pioneer of the digital industry in Malaysia having gotten his feet wet in the industry since 1994. He was one of the earliest certified Google Advertising Professional in Malaysia, achieving that distinction in 2007, before Google even had a Malaysian o ce.
Prior to VMO, Vincent was instrumental in starting the deployment & promotion of a travel e-commerce platform for the travel industry, which had grown to over 1,400 industry users in 40 counties by the time he left. His previous experience of building and marketing service platforms led Vincent to build VMO.
THAM LIH CHUNG
Tham's strong business acumen and eagle-eye for investment opportunities stem from his extensive corporate finance, investment banking and accounting experience, having worked at some of the industry's powerhouses including KPMG, RHB Investment Bank and MMC Corporation Berhad, an infrastructure and utilities conglomerate listed on Bursa Malaysia.
Tham is a serial entrepreneur and investor who founded Rhombus Connexion which has more than 30 establishments and 8 brands in Malaysia, Singapore and Myanmar. He is also instrumental in AUM Hospitality’s transformation which led to the acquisition by Parkson in 2014. He subsequently founded Union Chain Group, a F&B platform organisation, in 2018.
